Bauhaus Undead: The Visual History and Legacy of Bauhaus

On the heels of his brother and fellow Bauhaus alumni David J’s memoirs, Kevin Haskins of Bauhaus has offered us another thrilling glimpse into the crypt with his book Bauhaus Undead: The Visual History and Legacy of Bauhaus.

Keen to shed some (strobe)light on the dark corridors of the past and the ageless effervescence of youth, the book lovingly and painstakingly chronicles the development of this ground-breaking band from the perspective and memorabilia of one of the quartet’s founding members.

Packed to the gills with photos, flyers, ticket stubs and all manner of assorted ephemera, the lush hardbound volume provides a fascinating pictorial and anecdotal account of the rise of one of the most unique and influential bands to emerge out of the late 20th century.

Never a band short on visual panache, Kevin has worked with the impressive design team of Jeff Anderson of Artist In Residence and Donny Phillips and Kaylee Carrington of KIHL Studio to create a unique design reflecting the bands stripped down aesthetic and art school origins. It is by turns stark, pallid, mysterious and very, very sexy.

Currently busy preparing for the release of a new Poptone record with his daughter Diva Dompé and Daniel Ash, this project is a beautiful and timely celebration of the past - even as Kevin fixes his eyes firmly on the future.
