Scarlet Page Unveils Never Before Seen Images In First Australian Photography Exhibition
Behind The Gallery is proud to present internationally acclaimed photographer Scarlet Page and her debut photography exhibition 'Captures' from Wednesday, 3 May 2023 at 205 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, NSW.
The exhibition will showcase Scarlet's iconic collection of live, behind-the-scenes, album and portrait shots from her three-decade career, including never before seen photographs, as well as her talent and passion for capturing the raw essence of music legends having grown up in the industry alongside her father, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.
"While curating ‘Captures,’ I sifted through my archives and discovered some previously unseen photographs and hidden gems with an Australian focus. I pride myself on going a little bit deeper behind the mask and capturing the essence of my subjects," Scarlet notes. "Reflecting back on my career to date, I can see that thread continuing all the way through."
Scarlet's work has been commissioned by all the major record labels to shoot artwork, press, and marketing campaigns for international bands and her career highlights include working for prestigious music publications in the UK, including MOJO, Q, Uncut, Rolling Stone, Classic Rock, and Kerrang!, as well as travelling around America with the 1994 Lollapolooza tour and touring the globe with legendary acts such as The Darkness, Placebo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, and Stereophonics.
Scarlet's 'Captures' exhibition will have an Australian focus and feature her distinctive documentary style of reportage, which includes unseen hidden gems from some of her subjects over the years – including The Vines, Nick Cave and some recently unearthed images captured at very early Silverchair gigs in “scuzzy little venues” all over England.
“Especially as time passes, the photos become more nostalgic and more precious somehow,” she observes, “and they evoke such great memories.”
‘Captures’ will also feature Scarlet’s entire ‘Resonators’ collection, where she travelled all around the world taking portraits of this generation’s game-changing guitarists along with other highlights including evocative photographs of Bowie, Amy Winehouse, Oasis, Courtney Love, Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, Foo Fighters, The White Stripes, The Verve and The Prodigy plus more.
The exhibition is an opportunity not to be missed, offering Australians the chance to see a collection of works by one of our generation's finest music photographers, who over the past 30 years has developed a cult following of fans.
